The demos that comprise Originals blow most artists' finished studio work out of the water.

If Prince didn't give away any of these songs and released this as an album in the early 1990s, it would've likely fit comfortably among his discography and may have even been considered one of his most acclaimed releases.

If you're a Prince bootleg freak you'll know most of it already, but if not it's a great introduction to his writing for outside productions. Often, the real revelation is how closely performers hew to his demos. [Jul 2019, p.48]

Excited for this release I can't wait to hear Prince's takes on songs that he gave to the Bangles, Sheila E. and many others. I hope we get more releases like this in the future.

A great and catchy collection. I have a Tidal subscription so I was able to listen to the album early, apparently making me one of the few people who can actually review the album. From start to finish this album is actually a great collection of Prince tracks. Many of the lyrics show the intended vocalist but all the songs do have the unique styles that make them feel very Prince, and very very good Prince at that. Some of the stronger tracks include; Manic Monday, You’re My Love, The Glamorous Life, Holly Rock, and Nothing Compares 2 U. This being said, all of the songs are fun or passionate or beautifully arranged. I believe if Prince has released this as an album in the mid-80’s (aside from Love... Thy Will Be Done which was completed in the early 90’s) it would’ve been one of his most popular and memorable. This is an album for hardcore and casual Prince listeners alike. I know I’ll be listening to this album for a good while just to wrap my head around it.

"The Reason That Your Cool, Is Cause Your From The Old School!" So excited 4 these songs to Remastered!

Keep it coming I too love hearing songs that Prince wrote for other artists. The fact he gave the songs away has no bearing on his ability to completely own the songs and perform them in fashion no one could duplicate!!!
