For months now Cardi B was in talks to play the Super Bowl halftime show in 2019 with Maroon 5 but she has reportedly now refused it.
It's been a tumultuous year for the Super Bowl halftime show in 2019 with no halftime performers officially announced yet. It's reported that Maroon 5 and Travis Scott will be the main performers but they have been trying to find another act to perform with them and apparently no one wants to commit. Cardi B and Usher were among two of the groups in talks to perform but a third act isn't coming easily.

Cardi B has now thrown in the towel. She has refused to perform at the Super Bowl citing the Colin Kaepernick movement as her reason. She is on social media a lot and it can be easy to see how she could have been influenced by the movement to stay away from the Super Bowl. Also it's reported by Page Six that she wanted $1 million to peform with a "red carpet treatment" including her own set. Her publicist has denied the claims. The talks did not lead to a formal offer but she will still be in the area with Bruno Mars for another concert.

Cardi B joins others that are boycotting the Super Bowl in 2019 including Rihanna, Jay-Z, and comedian Amy Schumer.

Maroon 5 snatched up Travis Scott to perform with them after months of failing to fill the performance spot. Jay-Z is rumored to be trying to talk him out of it. It's been chaotic and there's still no official announcement on the Super Bowl halftime performers which is the latest such announcement in years.
